Dj of the week - Orjan Nilsen

I would like to introduce for you Orjan Nilsen. At the age of 7, Nilsen got his first keyboard, and started to practice on it frequently for the next couple of years and at the age of 16, Nilsen got his first very own synthesizer.

At the end of 2004, Nilsen had made several unofficial remixes and a couple of own productions, that got the attention of the trance community. His tracks began to be played on radio stations and clubs all over the world, though nothing was signed by any label.

In 2006 Nilsen has released his first signed vinyl - "Arctic Globe / Prison Break" on Intuition Recordings. "Arctic Globe" was voted #1 on the Dutch Dance Charts at that time. Since then, he has released a handful of prime level tracks including La Guitarra, Lovers Lane, GO FAST! and others. Nilsen is currently taking gigs all over the world and his music career is developing rapidly.

Dj Tools & Tips - Audacity

Welcome back to more tools and tips! Today we will talk about Audacity. This software is recommended for recording and editing your sounds. Well, You searched your tunes at Beatport, Learned how to mix your tunes on Virtual Dj, Now I think that you are crazy to record your first mix. And for do this you need the Audacity! The other good reason is that is free!

1 First you need to access the website: Audacity

2 Now you must choose your platform and install the software

3 Open the Audacity (Mac version)

4 Now you must connect your mixer into your computer (Audio). Prepare your tunes and adjust the settings. Are you ready to start?

5 Click on the record button and play on the CDJ.

6 Now mix your tunes as you planned. When you finished press stop.

7 Then you need to "normalize" the audio. This function will standardizing the volumes and reduce the noises.

8 Go to File > Export

9 Choose the name of the file and save! Ready! For this example I used:

2 CDJ 200

1 Mixer

1 RCA cable

1 Notebook

1 Headphone

This song I heard this week during FSOE 250. At the same moment I had no doubt that this song deserved to be the song of the week. Listen and forget all your troubles for a few minutes!

Sean Ray - Infected (Deepfunk Remix)

This song I found by doing a search on Beatport. Every week I take a look at the Top 100 and the releases of the week. This song has a slower beat, around 122 BPM. This song is a good indication to start a set! I hope you enjoy! have an awesome weekend!
